I purchased the Skylink SC-1000 system in October, 2008 and it has been working very well — no false alarms or other issues.
But the most remote sensor — in a backyard shed — stopped communicating with the main panel. I tried a fresh battery and having the panel re-learn the door sensor, with some success, but it still was not reliably triggering the panel.
My theory is that new sources of radio interference have popped up in our neighborhood, the most obvious of which is a bunch of new WiFi networks.
The most economical and convenient cure is this repeater, which was a plug and play install requiring about four minutes.
My only quibble, for which I deducted one star, is that it does not come with any mounting hardware nor a “keyhole” opening in the case to hang it on a screw. Also, the description says it comes with a 9v battery, which it does not, but it also fails to note that it comes with the AC adapter packed in the box, so no big deal.
Other than that, Amazon sells this at a competitive price and the device works very well.

So, I bought the Kit, a number of additional sensors, and even the Repeater/Range Extender.
With everything sitting on a table it works. So I programmed everything and installed it. Everything seemed to work fine. Just a bit sluggish.
After 24 hours I had to reprogram ALL the sensors. After another 24 hours and nothing worked again. And so all I get now is a constant voice alert that my sensors have all failed.
And it won’t let me go into programing mode anymore.
So… Since I threw out all the boxes, and installed everything with double stick tape, It’s not returnable.
Stay away for this product, far away.
Needs a rating of 0, but the selection doesn’t go that low.
On a technical side, I took apart one of the door sensors and it uses the same technology and frequencies as a lot of Chinese technology. IE: “eBay Strobe Triggers”. You can expect a lot of interference with these.
